The Murray League

Welcome to the Murray League Web site

The Murray League is a friendly teams of four competition for players in Cumbria.

It is open to all bridge players in the county, whether or not they are members of bridge clubs. Players are handicapped according to their experience and status so less experienced players compete on equal terms with more experienced players.

For more details about the handicapping click here.

There are two stages.

The initial stage is played as round robin within groups of teams arranged geographically to reduce travelling. Individual matches are commonly, but not necessarily, hosted by somebody from the home team, who usually supplies some light refreshment.

The leading teams from each area go forward to a final held in Keswick in April. The handicaps apply at all stages.
